Fibreglass Wool (Details and specifications for Fibreglass wool)

Fibreglass is a glass fibre based material, it is used in the building, industrial and airconditioning industries as a Thermal and Acoustic insulation medium. Fibreglass Wool comprises of strands of fibreglass which are spun and compacted in different ways and then bonded with a Thermo-setting resin, in order to achieve the various densities required.

The versatility of this product shows in the number of applications it can be tailored to. Fibreglass comes in various preformed rolls, sheets, boards and preformed pipe sections and can be matched to the exact Thermal and Acoustic insulation requirements.

Advantages and Characteristics of Fibreglass

  • The density varies according to the customers needs, 10kg/m³ to 96kg/m³
  • Very light and easy to apply.
  • Can be tailored to any requirement, set by the customer.
  • All the Fibreglass wool products comply with the Class 1 of SABS 0177 Part III standard, which is the highest SABS fire rating. And SABS 1077 Part V for combustibility.
  • Has a thermal conductivity ranging from 0.032 W/mK to 0.11 W/mK. This all depends on the product and the boundary conditions of the system.
